Shock Sensor

Unlike your traditional glass break detector that detects the high pitch of breaking glass, a shock sensor is the device on your alarm system that detects sound. Shock sensors work by detecting both sound and vibrations of an object. This can be an important device if a door is kicked in but there is no glass in the door.

Shock sensors can be adjusted for sensitivity and range of detection to reduce false alarms and provide the most protection for the money. Shock sensors are usually installed in the ceiling at various locations in the home. You total number of shock sensors that you require depends on the total square footage of the area you are protecting. Ask your local alarm provider for more information on the designs and settings.
