Most alarm system batteries are rechargeable so that it remains fully charged by using the power of the alarm system itself. If for some reason you lose power, the alarm battery will take over and power the system. When the power restores, the alarm battery will be recharged back to it full capacity.
Alarm system batteries are available in 4 amp, 6 amp and 8 amp versions that are designed to power the alarm system for 4, 6 or 8 hours however it usually last much longer. Never operate your home security system without a backup alarm battery.
